I like computers because I can talk to my friends and family on the other side of the world and in other areas of New Zealand, learning what they are up to and sorting out our next adventures. However, i generally dislike computers because they seem to me to be a false reality. I believe that all we need in life is what we have around us- the fall of civilisation has been created by human desire- a desire for more, be it more wealth, more power, or more knowledge. I think that it is time that we realise that we had all we needed back in the 50's. I think that the internet has made us a lot more scared of the world- we can now go online and see footage of a lot of bad things happening in other countries, things which do not affect us directly and we can do nothing about, and i think that we should be more worried about what is going on in our communities than on the other side of the world. Computers are often a waste of time (games, pointless surfing the net), money (online trading, scamming, gambling) and therefore power and resources.
However, I think that computers will be used extensively to help out with the global warming issue. And i do find a typed page a lot easier to read than many peoples handwriting :).
